Pro-G Review
Tiger's latest game for all current-gen systems is, as you are probably expecting, remarkably similar to last year's effort. On consoles swinging a club is as simple as it's ever been, but you get two methods to choose from. The simplest is the standard left stick swing, which handles all hook and slice, as well as power, in the same movement. In this standard swing mode the right stick handles where you strike the ball, allowing you to hit the ball higher or lower than usual. The new Alternative swing moves hook and slice to the right stick, and while this might be preferable for some players, I found the standard set up more than adequate. Extra power can be added to your swing by tapping a button during your back swing, and spin can be added while the ball is in flight, via a similar button tapping method. The recently released ProStroke Golf demonstrated how a more advanced control system can work on consoles, and playing Tiger Woods 07 does feel like a slight step back. Licensed real world Tour players look great and the 21 courses are all modelled excellently, but colours are a little pale, giving the game a slightly washed out look. There's no getting around the fact that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2007 is more than slightly similar to last year's game, and the game before that, with a handful of new modes and courses. --------------- Color me unimpressed but it was to be expected of TW. Funny thing is EA is working hard on those courses for the 360 that they can charge you for. Yet all these years we get the one big ommision which is highly utitlized on the PC version. A nifty course designer allowing people to utilize those hard drives in the premium Xbox 360's and high speed connections. Getting the most bang out of the $59.99 pricetag 360 owners are already shelling out already for the game. EA should have had this on the current gen systems by now. If little Gusto Games could do it on their first release they have absolutely no excuse. With the 360 it should have been a given to have one. Guess the marketplace as nice as it can be for certain things just keeps biting sports gamers (especially those who purchase EA titles) in the arse. |

The reviewer could have at least touched on the difficulty sliders-they seem to be the most important addition this year.

Are you totally sure there are sliders in the game and if so does the article you found that on go into detail?
I only ask because if you go to EA's own website and (PS2/Xbox) the feature list is: Key Features for Playstation®2 & Xbox®
No mention of sliders. Generally if it is not mentioned in the feature list it is not there or a very minor addition. |

Also from the producers interviews from the EA Website
Wes Culver: Going along with the common theme of customization in our game (customizing your character through Game Face and customizing your gameplay experience by selecting which swing and putting style to use), we are now allowing players to completely customize the difficulty settings they wish to use. The casual gamer can simply choose Easy, Medium, or Hard to get default settings. Hardcore gamers can tweak the amount of swing forgiveness for their Driver independently from the forgiveness of their Irons or Wedges. They can also challenge themselves by upping the difficulty on the speed of the greens, fairways, wind, and the length of the rough. Expert players can choose to remove Spin Control, Power Boost, Aiming Zoom, Wind and Lie Indicators, Yardages, and more! ------------------ That does not seem all too different from previous versions, especially the last part which "Expert Players" have always been able to turn that stuff off. The swing forgiveness might be new but knowing EA on the most difficult setting you might get lucky and miss one fairway. With console games it is just too hard to make a swing difficult since the analog stick only has so much area to cover. I almost prefer they threw in the option to use the 2-3 click swing (the PC version does). |

Well IGN covers it in their Xbox Review (8.5) same as the PC score.
* Before reading this you must understand that this is pretty much a copy paste for the PC version and Xbox/PS2. Review is the same on each. So maybe IGN never even played the game and now uses EA Review Release Information to make their job easier. ;) ;) From the Xbox review... err PC review... PS2 review? Options, options, options. That's really the direction the development team has taken this year. Tiger is really as difficult as you want it to be, and on expert control settings you'll find yourself hard-pressed to break 70. That's mostly because some courses -- especially the fictional ones like Central Park -- have been Tiger-proofed, with greens that have such slope that the blazing grid lines may induce seizure. Some courses, like our old friend Pebble Beach, remain cake (maybe because we've played it for so long). But on the higher difficulty settings, you'll find the controls unforgiving and a refreshing challenge. I've routinely shot in the high 50s on some courses in the past and those days appear to be over (at least for a few weeks, anyway). The difficulty sliders for environment, opponents and your own swing make this Tiger the most accessible and, for experienced players, the most challenging to date. After the revolutionary dual analog system debuted in 2003, Tiger has been tweaked with a steady influx of minor putting and swing changes. This year, you can choose from both old and new, so those not in favor of the shot shaping stick to control fade or draw can use the left analog stick alone, Golden Tee style. Even the old-school putting from Tiger 03 is available, if you so desire. The PC features the familiar mouse and keyboard approach, but you can always plug in an analog controller, if you like. |

Brent,I bought it for Xbox and it plays a good game of golf. I had to drop back from expert to normal to try and make some cuts. Give it a rent. I really like it so far.
