Jason and I have been talking a lot about leagues and formats this last couple of weeks.  We're in the process of developing a system that caters to the variety of "gaming lifestyles", for lack of a better term, of the core group of members here at SGN.

Keep watching for detailed posts this week about what we'd like to do.

For now we can tell you that all of the leagues will incorporate the ladders and will involve a season and a playoffs or championship where appropriate.

Further details after more discussion with Jason:

We want the leagues to support the different needs and levels of commitment that individuals have and we want to encourage as many people as possible to play in as many leagues as they wish without feeling guilty about dropping out or getting bored with a game after three or four weeks.

We want people to play in leagues with the games they are passionate about and also hope that they are willing to participate in the ones they have a marginal interest.

We want to be able to create a system that works for the buy and hold type of gamers as well as  the flavor of the month type of gamers.

We want a system of reporting that is quick and easy to use and does not discourage a gamer from participating.

We recognize that some gamers (especially Ted) feel that 6, 8, or even 10 game seasons in sports like basketball, baseball, hockey, and soccer feel anticlimactic.  We also recognize that it is not possible or a reasonable expectation to play 50+, 80+, or 160+ game seasons online.

We recognize our core membership are honest players as evidenced by past successful honor leagues here and at the former Calvert Games.

I am easy since I pretty much stick with the sports games. Anything you setup will work for me.
