Let me preface this with the fact it is EGM and their reviews lack depth and in many case a sports gamer reviewing them. They gave MVP 05 an average of 8.67/10 in their three combined reviews.
So after seeing
MVP 06 NCAA Baseball -- 5.5 / 8 / 6.5
They either really dislike college baseball, something went wrong in mudville, or the check from EA never showed up. Or only one checked showed up and he did not share with the other two. 
One tidbit from the rumors section that was discussed earlier and hopefully comes true.
** A sequel to Destroy All Humans and Gun are coming.

Hey BD,
I'm confused. Those three numbers don't average to 8.67. The wide discrepancy in the three posted numbers is puzzling. Did it mention anything broken specifically? Or did you glean that the reviewers weren't sports/baseball/college baseball/EA fans?
This will be disappointing if accurate.
Metacritic shows EGM giving an 87 last year to MVP 05.

Right but the MVP 05 EGM review did as you mention below, that was the only average I was refering to (MVP 05 - last years MLB game). I pulled it off gamerankings.
Still have yet to read the reviews. This info was posted on the 1up forums (EGM's website) from a reader.

Good find, bd. Personally, I think Egm has their head up their
rear when it comes to sports games. I can't foresee any non-bug
reason that mvp would regress from their excellent effort of last
year. Hope this one is 360 compatible, too.

I'd be interested in reading their review but I wouldn't put any faith in it. I complained about EGM using non-sports gamers for their sports games reviews last year on this forum.
