Now that the sports' problems have been resolved and the players have hit the ice again, new rules and all, another wave of hockey titles have just arrived in console drives, including Sony's latest in its Gretzky series.

I played my requisite 10 games to give an initial impressions post.

For me there is absolutely no reason to play this game instead of NHL 2k6.

The only things I thought were better than 2k6 was the crowd noise and appearance and the inclusion of AHL teams.

On the ice it is substandard in almost every respect.

I wouldn't even recommend a rental.

I feel it is an accurate and fair review.  Am I the only one that thinks Gamespot reviews have really improved?  In the last six months especially the writing has improved and I tend to agree with a lot of their assessments.  It is the one commercial site that I trust and enjoy.
