MS plans to cut Xbox 360 price
In an interview with Bloomberg, Shane Kim revealed that the company is working to lower the price of the Xbox 360. "We need to compete effectively for that customer and part of that is getting to the mass market price point for the console,'' said Kim. "We definitely are working on that area." Oh and about that Sony pricedrop.... Well it was not exactly a pricedorop. Say goodbye to the 60GB PS3.... $599.99 is still the price (you just get 20 more GB and a game). 'All they're doing is taking their stock and marking the price down' SCEE president David Reeves has told GamesIndustry.biz that the 60GB PlayStation 3 will no longer be available in the US after stock sells out - which he predicts will occur by the end of the month. Reeves was speaking at an E3 event to announce the introduction of a new PS3 bundle in Europe. When asked about possible criticisms over whether SCEE should have given consumers the option to pay a lower price, as SCEA has done, he replied, "Well, they're not really are they, because what the US are offering from the 1st of August is a USD 599 version with one game. "All they're doing is taking their stock in trade that they've got at the moment of the 60GB model, marking the price down and it will all be gone by the end of July." When asked to clarify if this will mean the end of the 60GB model, Reeves answered, "In America, yes." |

"All" Xbox 360s Have Design Flaw
It certainly won't be received well by consumers, but at least Microsoft is finally admitting to something many retailers and gamers had assumed for quite some time. It seems that during a conference call with the media, Microsoft's Robbie Bach admitted that all Xbox 360s have a design fault which may cause them to fail. Yes, all. Now, it seems even more possible that this defect will rear it's ugly head within the first two years of the system's existence. Microsoft has moved to award a new 3-year warranty for anybody with a console that suffers this system failure, but even so, it's just amazing how unreliable the system has been. Bach did say the design flaw surfaced "only recently," but nobody's buying that. The number and frequency of massive defective reports have been around since the machine's launch in late 2005. Hopefully, this is something Microsoft can fix, because consumers won't tolerate this for very much longer... Source: XboxNerds.com
Sometimes I think that Sony & Microsoft don't want me to join the next generation. I hope NCAA 08 is good on the PS2 because I'm holding off on any next-gen consoles for now.

I have absolutely no interest in the Wii and can't understand why it's doing so well. The Xbox 360 Premium is my new front-runner for the moment.
