I'll buy PGR as well if we'll get at least 4 guys willing to go at it for a while.

Heh, Adam, I'm not sure what exactly you recall with me and Forza 2 over at DSP, but I was looking to do some racing with it that was, as you put it, a 'little less serious' than what some of the regulars over there were doing, but that didn't end up..uh.. working out all that well. Ouch  I traded the game in pretty quickly after that.

I would definitely be up for something a bit lighter here.

No, there's no car setups in PGR4. It just pick a car and race.

Is there any car/setup tinkering with PGR 4?  That's when I get lost in racing games.  If you're going to start doing som PGR nights I'd be willing to pick it up.  My racing wheel is very lonely.

I've raced with Forza 2 online. It was certainly enjoyable, but not as much fun as PGR4.

Did any of you lot ever give Forza 2 a go online?  I seem to recall Web might have...Zeppo had a regular race night with that at DSP for a while and it was a blast, though it's probably a little bit too serious for the needs of this thread, and the tracks pale in comparison with PGR4 in both quantity and design.

I LOVED racing with PGR4 online. Grambo's right, it is a great party game. I'd be willing to race anytime. I've done more racing online with PGR4 than any other racing game.

Slumber, that's when I returned my Gamefly'd copy as well, way back when.  In the Feb 6 update though, they are finally adding a 'restart' option, so you can tackle the remaining challenges (like the car-specific burning routes) without all the constant driving to retry.

I agree with you completely, though, that at that point the 1P was more work than fun.

I played PGR 3 & 4.  I have to say both were excellent games.  Both games do a nice job of rewarding precise driving and knowing how a car reacts without bogging the game down in simulation.

Personally I am waiting for Forza 3 or Gran Turismo 5.  I would pick up PGR 4 again after watching from the sidelines and seeing if interest was genuine and sustained.

I used to race PGR 4 with some guys that had an interesting league structure.  They would do four or five races in one night and mix up the events.  Some events were solo racing and some were team racing.  It would start with a solo race, followed by a team event, etc until the night was concluded.  All team events were based on current standings to try and balance it out.

It was fun, it usually ended up being pretty balanced on the final scoreboards, and even guys that weren't exceptional at the game enjoyed themselves, especially in the team racing events.

Oy, I just got rid of it... no one I knew seemed to play online, and once I finished my 'A' license, everything beyond that seemed like drudgery.  Poor timing!

There are some "standard-like" races in this one, but not like what I think you are saying.  Trust me, this is a great game to play with friends who have a sense of humor.  There are some wild moments in it.  Glad you got it Derek!  Now for peer pressure on the rest!
