Here are some NCAA Football 07 screenshots I took on the last day of E3. Included are shots of a UGA Dynasty I started. You can also see from the screenshots that Impact players have their own sets of plays in one of the sections of the play call menu. I also got a good taste of being on the wrong side of momentum, and it's very ugly! It's definitely a place you don't want to be. When you get momentum on your side, you clearly have an advantage on both offense and defense. Just imagine your players getting a huge shot of adrenalin. The defense becomes very aggressive. I found it hard to get passes off because they got in the backfield so quickly. On offense, your players execute more efficiently in every way. Imagine an entire team of Impact players all pulsating at once--that's pretty much the effects of momentum, when it's on your side.                                                        |

IGN Hands On - Videos
Some definate YIKES from what this guy at IGN (who i have never heard of) says. Finally, players no longer have to worry about pounding a button to make a player hurdle an outstretched defender; In NCAA Football 07, receivers and backs will automatically leap over other players to pick up yardage, keeping their momentum as they sprint down the field. Did IGN write that or EA? I tend to worry more about losing control of my players and have it automated. Keeping their momentum as they sprint down the field? Is this a good thing? For one, they can now throw the ball away in the pocket without having to worry about getting a flag. Now QBs in the pocket will launch the ball at the nearest receiver's feet if pocket pressure is too hot (if they're outside of the pocket, they'll simply throw it away). Another twist is that quarterbacks are much more mobile than they've ever been before. In previous years, you had to pull the ball down before you could take off, sometimes leaving you vulnerable as you set up to throw the ball once again. Now you can run your offense much more like Vince Young, scrambling from incoming backs as you kept your eyes on eligible receivers. So basically they implemented Easy Play as the default option? |
