Here's some MLB 07 info from Playstation Underground:

MLB 07 The Show introduces innovative new first- and third-person options for Career Mode that allow you to play only your position in the field and at the plate with Road To The Show. New Adaptive Pitching Intelligence lets the catchers call the game in accord with strengths and weaknesses from pitcher to batter. Other new features include Online League Play, Real Time Roster Updates and unique Umpire Personalities. Welcome to The Show.

Available 3/2007

Online league play sounds interesting.  Unique umpire personalities sounds like a waste of resources.

I agree. They should replace unique umpire personalities with more intuitive baserunning controls. I just hope Sony doesn't "pull an EA" and adds a bunch of useless features instead of fixing the (few) gameplay issues the game has.
