I was hoping for $299 but I'll definitely buy a Premium with the new CPU for $349 in September.

Yep...  There is a wire from the controller to the headset, but the controller is wireless...

Circuit City Reveals Price Drops for All Xbox 360 Editions

Yesterday, we reported that a Toy "R" Us ad and a Wal-Mart brochure revealed Microsoft plans to lower the price of the Xbox 360 Premium by $50, starting the week of August 12. We were wondering if the $50 price cut will be effective for all the systems or just the Premium edition. This speculation even led to a rumor that claimed the Core will be discontinued but Microsoft has already denied such a claim.

Well, today a Circuit City flyer has revealed the price cuts for every edition of the Xbox 360.

Beginning August 12, 2007, the Xbox 360 the Elite will be available for $449.99 (a $30 price cut), the Premium will be available for $349.99 (a $50 price cut), and the Core will be dropped $20 to be sold for $279.99.
