Wiffle ball. The 2v2 game in the driveway in front of the garage. Anyone ever play this? Trading off pitching inning by inning. Alternating batting. Grounders caught by the pitcher is out. Any fly caught is out. Grounder to the fielder is a single unless he can throw it to the pitcher before the batter reaches the mailbox. Over the fielder's head is a double. Over the opposite side sidewalk is a homer unless you caught it.
We used a street hockey goal and net for the strike zone at one house. The strike zone went all the way to the ground, you just couldn't bounce the ball in it had to go past the batter before touching the ground to be a strike. On another house it had decorative trim and we used one of the rectangles as the strike zone. We used to play this for hours and hours all the way until my second year of college and then the group kind of drifted apart/moved away. I was thinking about what a great xbox live arcade game this could be. Or maybe a phone game like Digital Chocolate makes. It could just be 2D isometric, very simple. Zone hitting. Crazy curves pitching and slow fastballs. We had some amazing pitchers. I was a meatball pitcher, just couldn't do anything creative and my arm always blew out by the third inning. I could hit and field though and used to rob a lot of homeruns. Mike S make this game! I want to play it! Please? |

Try this - select NO when it asks if you want to use hyperload. They even made a Nintendo DS game based on this flash game.
We played a ton of whiffle ball but it eventually was replaced with sock/nerf/whatever we could find ball which was played in the local swimming pool. You used your hand as the bat and the ladders were the bases. Great fun and the scenery was top notch. |

I used to play a ton of wiffle ball when I was younger and then graduated to stickball. I played with a guy that could throw some of the craziest pitches with a wiffle ball. BTW, you can check out some great wiffle ball pitchers on YouTube.

Played a ton of 1-on-1 whiffle ball as a kid and a teenager.
Pitcher vs. batter, strike zone on the garage, automatic outs or hits
depending on where you hit the ball. Kept lots of stats of our
games as we played as well, still look at 'em and chuckle when I go
through my super-old stuff!!

I play several times in the summer with the kids, either me against them or sometimes I can get my wife to play. We have rubber bases to set up. Hitting the house is a homerun: over the fence to the neighbor's yard is an out!
We'll play kickball the same way sometimes, too. Good times!

I had two brothers, and then two close friends, so we played with an outfielder as well. Fun making leaping catches to rob HR's heading for the neighbors' yards...

I'd love to see a wiffle ball game on the Wii. It's just the type of game that would generate a lot of excitement from the adult gamers who have great memories from their childhood. Sell it for around $20, and it would sell no doubt.
