Does anyone here use the handbrake in PGR 4? Do you need to use the handbrake to become a better/faster driver?

That fellow we raced with last time said he does and he told me to. So I tried it. And it is effective and I think I performed better by using it. What was his name again? Mr. Groove or something like that?

McGov00.

I was going to ask him to race tonight too.

The only thing I use the handbrake for is initiating a slide in order to score one or two Kudos where appropriate.  Maybe there's another way of using it that gains time but I've gone reasonably well without ever bothering.  Ted, how did the other chap say he was using it?

I don't remember, but I seem to think he was of the impression that it allowed him to get around the track faster.

Agreed.

I think it could too if you learn to control your power-slide coming into and out of turns.

For that to be the case, he'd need to be making a really terrible mess of his brake and throttle usage.  Driving at or anywhere near the limit, the handbrake isn't going to make anyone go faster - it'll get them more Kudos, though.

Edit: The exception, of course, is a particularly tight hairpin turn.  Some of the Macau circuits have one or two of these, but even then any increase in speed is reliant upon you not spinning the wheels under acceleration and that's not a guarantee.

I'm glad to hear that because I've had problems trying to use the handbrake.
