Well, I decided not to buy 08 after owning 07, which means I will definitely be buyin 09 (unless they take a few steps back, which I doubt).

But I decided to gamefly the 08 version.  So, if anyone wants a practice match against a newbie, I am game.  Plus, I got it because I am in another achievement whore competition (winner gets one year free to XBL gold), so if anyone wants to indulge me when I get it ......

Plus I am looking forward to see if there is going to be an 09 league going later this year.

I can almost guarantee that there will be an NCAA 09 league this summer. What nights and times are you available this week for a game?

If you see me on  (bdosg)  I can play.

By the way, since you admitted to being an achievement whore, a little FYI.

Play 15 minute quarters
Use  USC  and  play against Buffalo or Temple
Simulate the entire game - this can now be done in-game
pile up amazing stats
get lots of achievements

Unless one of the patches fixed this any achievement gained through a simulation will count.

Decisions, decisions.

OK, I am past the achievement whoring portion of my week.  With 5 days left to go, the leader in the competition (I sh*t you not) has racked up 5000 achievement points in 9 days!!!  I am in fifth with about 800, although I saw early on it was a lost cause.

So now, what do I do?  I find myself enjoying NCAA 08, despite the fact that I have 07 and plan on buying 09.  Do I just keep it for another week or so or should I buy it from Gamefly, even though 09 comes out in 4 months?  The buy price is 27.99 and I have 5 bucks in coupons.

Guess I will try playing in dynasty mode and see how I feel after a few games before I decide.

It won't matter much once Rainbow Six and GTA come out though.  Plus if they ever patch MLB.  Damn, too many games, not enough time.  I thought post-Xmas was supposed to be a slowdown!

That's a tough choice. NCAA 08 is a very good game and is still popular among Brent, Ted and myself. I wouldn't be shocked if EA took a step back with 09 either.

If EA takes a step back 08 will be even cheaper then.

EA will not take a step back with NCAA09

You only have around 4 months until 09 comes out. Just thought I would add that into the equation.

Nah, I might get strong this time and resist the temptation.  I see myself keeping it for at least a week or two to finish off a dynasty with my favorite college team though (USC, and no I am not one of those just getting on the bandwagon - I have been a fan of theirs since 1972).

One thing I notice is that this version of the game is taxing on my 360.  It seems to be constantly pulling data from the disc.  I hope it is only because I got a bad copy, 'cause otherwise my console is dying again.

Grambo, let me know if you want to play an online game one night this week.

I would like that Jason.  I still need a little more practice though.  Damn, even though two of my favorite game genres are coming out soon (GTA and Rainbow Six), I find myself anxiously waiting for July.

Do you guys typically get Madden as well?  Since I have been on the two year rotation for football games, I usually pick them up in the same year if they have the option of drafting NCAA classes in Madden.

I get both (have both Madden/NCAA08) and will even get APF2K9 if it ships.  I am 97.3% sure that Jason will get Madden 09 so he can play a football game where the option does not exist. I would expect Ted would also get it or at the very least stick it on Gamefly.

Yeah, what is the word on APF?  I thought it didn't sell well (at least I saw it was budget priced sooner than normal).  Personally, I loved it, and loved the fact that I could play some of the heroes of my youth, plus liked the oddball stadiums and such.  Unfortunately when last year's came out, I knew few people who got it - most got Madden.

They have said there would be a 2K9 but since that statement there has been nothing on the game (which is in form with the horrid advertising machine that is 2ksports).  I love 2K football because it feels more like football.  They take more time getting the little things right, from actual living things on the sidelines, far better line blocking and proper QB movements.  The knock I have is the players still have a funky running with a pole up the butt feel to them (as with all 2k games) and I did not like the control setup/the lack of being able to change it like I want.

It did not sell well at all. I forget the numbers but it was very low.

Your expectation would be correct.

Yes, I'll get both if they are both good this year.

Would love to, but wifey is working late tonight and my little one is ornery tonight.

I plan on keeping this one for another week at least - maybe over the weekend?

No problem. Weekends are usually good for me.

Maybe Saturday night before PGR?  I should be able to stay awake then, and my wife owes me because she is dragging me to a dinner at friend's house .... and don't laugh, but it's a lesbian couple with daughters around my girl's age.

And no, I'm not lucky ..... not all lesbian couples are hot.  In fact, there is something oddly disconcerting about being the only Y chromosome in a room with at least 2 man-haters Tongue

Saturday should be fine if you can make it through dinner first.

Where I live is a huge lesbian community.  I've never seen a hot one.  Most of them remind me of Large Marge in Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
