5 stars, 10 minute matches, default teams, default camera, auto goalkeeper, manual player changing.
For a long time, people have advocated the use of longer game lengths throughout the WE series, not just in Master League play, but I've never gone for it. I'm not concerned about realistic stats, and it seems that 10 minutes is more than enough time to get men injured, booked, sent off or any combination thereof. It stops me getting too sloppy as well - in a longer match I always find, as I do in real life, that I'll sometimes pass when I should shoot or, and this is much more likely, shoot when I should pass. If I know I don't have too long to make amends for an error I'm more likely to weigh up what I should do with the ball and not waste possession.
I haven't created myself in PES 5 but I did in PES 3 when I did the CG Pro Evo Chronicles. If you find the lifespan of the game isn't what you'd hoped, create a team of your own. You don't have to do what I did and round up willing participants, stats, strengths and weaknesses, just sling some names in there. I had Dave T in goal, Web, JC, Zep, Seth and I in various midfield roles, Kevin at the back, Ted ploughing on bravely with DeeDub87 up front (and where's he got to these days?) and my God, I actually cared about you lot...
Cheers, Adam
Edit - how can I be known as Statto and not be bothered about realistic stats? Well...football, to my mind, isn't a game of absolutes. If you were to ask me what a typical number of shots or fouls per game should be, I probably wouldn't be able to answer. Every match is different, not like in a racing game where there is an absolute lap time, or as near as, that should be achievable and if you're 10 seconds up or down on it then the game isn't quite where it should be. There's a variance with every set of stats, and the differences can be vast. I see all sorts of different types of match in PES 5, so I know what I'm seeing is right. The numbers, just this once, aren't something I'll worry about.
