Going to create an official thread for this.  Discuss your games, setup user/user games here and of course ribbing Jason for dropping Syracuse to a 1 star program after year 5.

Participants

Brent - North Texas
Ted - Middle Tennessee St
Jason - Syracuse
Grambo - Vanderbilt
Kevin - Akron
Fazeo - UTEP
JaredPK2000 - Kansas

Settings
All-American, 7 minute quarters, injuries and fatigue on - everything else off.

Length of Dynasty
Guess we can run it until everyone gets bored or until NCAA 2010 arrives.

CPU GAMES and USER/USER
This is dedicated to CPU games with one or two user/user games per season and of course the possibility of meeting each other in bowl games (we will have a league run by Ted for the user/user battles). The fight will be in recruiting and taking our lowly teams to national greatness.

Schedule
This will be run with a maximum of 7 days between games.  If all games and recruiting are finished early I will roll it over to the next week.  Both your games and recruiting can be simulated. If you are having one of those weeks, you can sim out or after.  You are not punished for simulating games. If you do not think you can get a game in and the rest of the group is done, just post here and we will advance to the next week (simulating your game/recruiting).

Fun
Have some, they are games after all.

Game one in the books and we pull off the upset @ Kansas St. - something like 42-21.  Running back had 120+ yards and threw for over 200 for a balanced attack against the Wildcats.

The Blue Raiders lost a horrible game to rival Troy 14-7.  5 INT's 5 dropped passes and an illegal play by the CPU that ends up in a touchdown made we want to throw a controller.  Also lost my HB on the 2nd play of the game.  Out for 3 weeks.  And he was running a pass route away from the play.  Ouch.

Oh and 36% completion rate on short, medium, and long passes all over the field.  Suck on that 2 Bills.

We got crushed by Miami of Ohio, of all teams.  I can't even remember the score.  We did recover an onside kick though, which was kind of neat.  I don't recall doing that before in earlier NCAA games.

Won the first game 38-20.  I had them really opened up in the first half until Reesing got knocked out of the game.  I couldn't establish a running attack, and struggled putting them away.

Zips Throw Away Chances at Wisconsin

Madison (AP) - Akron was game against a strong Wisconsin team, but too many missed opportunities in the red zone snuffed out the upset bid.  Chris Jacquemain threw three interceptions in a 34-17 loss, two in Wisconsin territory, one of which was returned for a touchdown.  The Zips also failed to convert two 4th down opportunities in the red zone, both when the game was still within reach.

Wisconsin running back P.J. Hill was the star of the game, with 144 yards rushing on just 21 carries, including a touchdown.  The Badgers controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.  They did not allowing a sack, and the potent Zips running game was held in check with less than 50 total yards on the ground.

University of Miami transfer Andrew Johnson ran 16 yards for the Zips' only offensive touchdown in the first half, while backup cornerback Kevin Funches returned an interception 82 yards for a touchdown to keep the Zips within striking distance late in the 3rd quarter.  Igor Iveljic capped off the Zips' scoring with a 42 yard field goal.

Starting conerback Jalil Carter left the game in the second half with a broken elbow, and is expected to be sidelined for 10 weeks.  Akron travels to Syracuse next week to take on the Orangemen in their second consecutive game against a BCS opponent.

Ouch on the loss of the CB, you and Ted ran into some bad luck in week one.

Runs to find some wood to knock on.

My best CB, too!  Hopefully, I can generate more of a pass rush against "lesser" opponents to offset the loss.

I'm shaking the rust off.  Had I been on my game, it would've been a lot closer.  I made too many silly mistakes.  That said, Akron really shouldn't beat Wisconsin, so I don't feel too bad.

UTEP beat Buffalo 28-14. It was somewhat a sloppy game due to the rain but after a few early miscues and turnovers UTEP took the game over in the second half as their D kept Buffalo in check.

I should have seen it coming after this first quarter run.

Louisiana State Tech and Kansas put on an offensive showcase to remember this season.  Both teams posted touchdowns on their first two drives until the KU defense woke up and produced a three and out.  KU scored on their third drive, and Tech returned the ensuing kickoff for the touchdown to end the first quarter in a 21-21 stalemate.  As the game continued the KU spread offense was too much for Tech to handle as they continued for six more touchdown drives.  Todd Reesing put up 350 yards through the air along with five touchdown passes.

Seriously, its a good thing my offense came to play because I couldn't hardly get a stop.  I may have to switch up my base defense to a 4-2-5 to generate some pressure until I get better players on the front seven.

I started to play my match against SC tonight and miraculously, I was behind 10-7 toward the end of the first half.  And then my daughter had a total meltdown and I had to stop.  So, I will have a restart, so if I win the match when I restart it and anyone has a problem with that (even though it is unlikely), I will gladly take the loss.  Otherwise, I will retry in the wee hours of tonight when my wee one is in bed.

LOL  We all understand life happens.  You play the game and take the win or the loss based on a full game you play tonight.  If anything we have to chalk these up as EA sports laziness in not allowing in-game saves.

Oh man I played an epic game yesterday against #10 ranked Texas, sadly I lost in triple OT but it should have never even went to OT. I missed an extra point in the 1st quarter(something I've never done before) and I also gave up a safety. Still with less than 3:00 minutes to go I still had a 14 point lead over Texas in the 4th quarter. I somehow managed to give up two TDs in that span, and neither drive had any huge plays. When I got the ball back I should have ran down the clock a bit more than I did, that was my big mistake since Texas scored the game tying TD with 1 second to go.

We then went through three OTs, and I lost when I couldn't convert a 2 point play. Though I lost I learned that my team isn't too bad when I basically had a handle on a top ten team, I also learned that I really need to burn the clock more when I have a lead late.

I had a defensive player who scored not one but two TDs! The first was a fumble recovery he ran back for at least 80 yards and then later an INT for a TD, and both were near my red zone.

Middle Tennessee State fell to a superior Maryland team tonight 32-20.  Despite the loss I was pretty happy with our performance since we were clearly overmatched.  Maryland only scored one offensive touchdown, which was off a big play and we held them to two field goals out of three tries in the red zone.

We gave up a runback off a kickoff for a TD and I threw two INT's, one of which was run back for a TD.

A loss is never fun, but we made some good progress as a team this game.  We're still plagued by some dropped passes.  I'll have to speak to my receiver corps.

Oh and it was neat to see some variety.  Maryland ran the ball 29 times and passed 12 times.

Syracuse gets an old-fashioned ass-kicking from Akron (Kevin) in a 24 - 3 loss. I couldn't get anything going against Kevin's defense and lost my starting RB for the season in the first quarter.

It wasn't just the first quarter - it was the first play!

I employed the "bend but don't break" defense in the second half, and got lucky you didn't score.  You had two very nice drives that only got you 3 points.  I had a couple of big plays, and got lucky on a couple of runs.

It was fun, though!  Tonight you get your revenge in racing...  Smile

You can turn the week over as I got my match in this afternoon (thanks to having my folks babysit!).  It was a damn close match, with Vandy losing to South Carolina 21-16.  It was even closer than the score indicated.  Actually Carolina could have wrapped up the score at 21-10 but they decided to run the option play late in the 4th quarter in my territory.  The play resulted in a fumble which we took in for the score (and got me the 20 point achievement!).  I saved the play and will upload it at some point.

Middle Tennesse State falls to Kentucky 20-14 in an ESPN instant classic battle.

I'm sure growing attached to these guys.  They're such scrappers.  We had our chances that included losing possessions on a fumble in the red zone and an INT in the end zone as well as a dropped pass to a wide open receiver in the end zone.  We had four turnovers to Kentucky's three.  We were driving well in the final seconds, but could only get the the Kentucky 30 yard line before the final play.  We threw deep, but it didn't get deep enough and Kentucky held on to save the win.

My guys were scrappers into the 3rd quarter. Had a 100+ yard int return early in the 3rd qtr to take the lead over LSU ,21-20.  Only to have it thrown away with 7 int's over the game in a blowout win for LSU.  Glad to have that one out of the way, I never expected to win this one.

Ugh.

Akron laid an egg against Ball State.  It was close into the 3rd quarter, as I actually had a 10-7 lead.  However, Nate Davis took State right down the field to regain the lead, and I immediately followed with a pick-six.  From that point on, I lost focus, made bad decisions, and tried to score 21 points at a time.  In other words, I threw 2 more INT's, dropped a sure TD pass, and failed to convert some 4th down opportunities which gave BS good field position.

Nate Davis was unstoppable.  He was 21-24 with 3 TD's and no picks.  I was helpless on defense against the pass in the second half.

Final score: 35-10, Ball State.  Back to the drawing board for me next week.  At least I'm playing Army - I should do better in that game.

Do you have another XBL account? You can only have one team per XBL account in the online dynasties. If so I have no problem adding him.

Edit:  Durrr   I meant one Gamertag can only have one team in an online dynasty.  Have him setup a gamertag different than yours.

Double edit:  Each gamertag has to have their own XBL account. So I was right on that.  Still trying to figure out if two people can use the same gamertag in an online dynasty.

Everything I have read says one GT per OD.  Except for one person at OS with one post who says otherwise, it was the last post and nobody ever said if it worked or not.

I can try adding another team with your account attached if you want.  Just have no clue if it can be done and what might happen to the Mid Tenn St dyn.

Army scores a late touchdown to make it close, but Akron prevails 28-21 at West Point.  It was actually a pretty even game.  I was expecting to come in and dominate, but saw that Army was 2-0!  I still need to get my running game going, but it was a little better.  I had my best passing day in this dynasty yet, and had a couple of long-gainers.

Nothing seems to be easy for my Zips, but I'm happy to be 2-2 given the schedule.  Cincy comes to the Rubber Bowl next, so it will be another tough one for me.

I did get my first signee - a 2-star OLB.  I can't remember many details about him, other than he's 6-4 and 213 lbs.  I'm just happy to have SOMEBODY sign, LOL.

Middle Tennessee prevails in a downpour over Arkansas State 21-17.  Other than a couple of fumbles by my HB it was a pretty solid day on both sides of the ball.  I was glad to have Desmond Gee back in the lineup as well.  He got 115 yards before I pulled him out with 2 minutes to go after the second fumble caused him to go ice cold.

I'm considering getting Jake his own XBL gold account.  I guess one of the silvers wouldn't be good enough to play in the online dynasty?  The more Jake watches us play these league games the more interested he becomes.

Congrats on the W and yes you have to have a gold account.  What you might try is setting up an XBL account for Jake and when it asks you if you want to keep the silver account, in some cases will give you a free month of Gold after saying yes to silver.  Plus there are a few one month free Gold account gimmies out there.

It offered him the 1 month gold with no credit card so we took it.  He's gold for a month.  We'll probably just keep it going after that.  Just need to run off island and get the kit with a headset I guess.

Brent, just wondering if you tried to send Jake the invite to the dynasty.

Just added, have him check his invites.  It simulated the games missed and he is 1-1. He has 3 games against users; me, you and Fazeo since he had UTEP on his schedule.

He is in for this week so he can start as soon as he accepts the invite.

I'm sure he'll get it in tonight or tomorrow.  He digs NCAA.

I played but got the old "unreadable disc" error.  I was down 17-0 at the time.  I replayed the game last night and lost, but it was the first decent game Vandy has put in thus far.  Man, it is soooooo tough to play with marginally talented teams - plus, I haven't played the cream of the conference crop yet!  I hope to get some recruits signed early, else they will avoid my team if we go winless this year.

How does it work in online dynasty -  if I do a sh*tty job, is there a chance I get fired?  If so, would I choose another team for the next season?

UTEP barely got by New Mexico last night, basically I took another early lead and then held on for dear life, I squeaked out a victory though.

Good question but I have not seen an answer to it.  It appears I can change a users team.  If someone wants to swap teams at the end of a season I can do that.  We can just call it a firing. ;)

Are we overdue to advance the week?  Jared is the only one who hasn't played and he has an FCS West opponent.  I'm sure his team will win if we sim forward.

That sounds fine to me.  Jared is that ok with you?

I wish they would hurry up and get the Online League thing showing up on EAsportsworld. Would sure make following it easier.

We have advanced one week.

North Texas loses to Rice thanks to EA SPORTS.  Driving to get within a TD against Rice, late in the 4th, North Texas throws an interception that Oliver Stone would be proud of.

Back and to the left, back and to the left, back and to the left...

He returned it for a TD and then after picking up my controller off the floor threw another one.

Whose idea was it to play this on AA? Luckily I won my first game or I'd have to worry about going winless for the season. I'm going to upload some BS plays by the CPU that almost made me throw my controller across the room.

Hey now, I think the EA screw exists in all difficulties. ;)

Edit: I think the difficulty is just fine at AA. We just have sucky teams.

How did all of our teams fare on week one?

Utep gets blown out by Buffalo (17-42)
North Texas gets pummeled by KSU (6-45)
U Louisiana L gets smacked by So Miss (21-51)
Mid Ten St loses to Troy (17-31)
Akron loses to Wisconsin (17-38)
Syracuse blown out by NW (10-30)

Only Kansas and Vandy won this week to a couple cupcakes.

I like the difficulty level.  It feels realistically challenging.

I will pay more attention now.  I was deep into my offline dynasty... trying to get a number 1 recruiting class and get a bcs invite.

I agree. It is a challenge but it isn't impossible to win.

Just finished a classic duel against UCF. UCF was leading UTEP 10-0 into the 4th quarter, I finally scored a TD with less than 6 minutes to go in the game but I was still down by 3.

Then inexplicably with 1:42 to go UCF's QB with the lead and in my territory decides to throw it and I intercept it. :)

I still had to score though and that was a problem for me all game. I decided to try some different looks and with a sweep to the right I got some mega yards and marched down to UCF's 10 yard line.

Then on 3rd and goal I scored on a PA pass with about 13 seconds left in the game.

It was quite a game, a defensive struggle for most of the game and then a flurry of scoring late, I'm just glad I came out on top.
