I can't wait to try out the demo next Monday. I've been trying to confirm the return of the classic camera but haven't been able to do so yet. I'd love to see it as a selectable option in the demo.

Through a release of new screenshots (check them out in the http://www.pastapadre.com/screenshot-gallery - gallery ) EA Sports has revealed that the NCAA Football 11 demo will feature Ohio State vs Miami. Notably though it has not been explicitly stated if those are the only two teams to choose from as usually the teams included in the demo are from the previous year’s championship game. There doesn’t seem to be a good reason to have gone from Alabama vs Texas to OSU and Miami. Also noted from the screens are the inclusion of the team’s Nike Pro Combat uniforms.








Great job Nike, it is bad enough you made all those horrid Nike Oregon uniforms, now you have to screw with other teams.

This year, the team behind "NCAA Football 11" is finally taking the feature full-force to the Web, enabling gamers to log onto their dynasty anywhere they have access to the Internet, whether it's on a computer, iPhone, or even an iPad.

That's right, now if you an extra 20 minutes to kill at work (or if you just don't feel like working), you can log onto your team online, schedule a game, try to recruit that strong-armed quarterback for next season, and even write up a news story about how you destroyed Florida the night before and post the story to Facebook.

And remember, this doesn't even have to be multiplayer as you can also play an online dynasty by yourself. Think of it more like a connected dynasty as I can't even think of a reason to play offline anymore. You just have so much ability online.

Sorry to the people I sent the invite to regarding the demo. I am a sucker for more uniforms.  So far the demo is terrific and running the ball is the best I have see in an EA football game. At first I hate the way the camera was so far out but it moves in really nicely when you run the ball.

Nice to see squib kicks in the game, too bad the camera is really wonky when you attempt one.

Apparently the demo build is an older one and EA is going to post the changes made to the retail version on their blog soon. I hope they fix the frame rate issues that occur at the end of a play when the camera starts rotating. It doesn't really affect gameplay, but it's a little distracting. The cut scenes are a little choppy too.

I can live with the new camera, but I'm still hoping that the classic camera is an option. I do think that the new camera is a HUGE improvement over the default camera that was in Madden and NCAA last year.

Brent, are you using auto-sprint? I'm going to try that out tonight.

You have to remember I am coming from the PS3 where everything stuttered.  The demo seemed much better than last years game on the PS3. 

I have not tried auto-sprint but it almost seems like you need to have it on with auto-strafe on (which is on by default).  I was controlling a LB most of the time and he always seemed to be a little slow getting to spots.  I might just leave strafe and sprint off. I do not mind using the L Trigger to strafe when needed.

A lot of people are complaining about the new play-calling screen but I like it quite a bit. I'm able to find the plays I want quickly and easily.

I'm also happy to see the return of auto-strafe which has been missing since the PS2 days. Us older guys prefer less buttons to press while playing.

I can't really understand why someone would complain too much.  You have the basic play call screen for those who want quick access and the advanced play call screen (which I prefer).  Nothing too different here and I do like the quick buttons to take you to goaline and special teams.

Just noticed there was no more Lee Corso announcing. Can't really complain about that.

I used the advanced screen myself and also LOVE the quick buttons that take you to goalline and special teams. I don't have to fumble around the play calling screen to kick a PAT.

Agree with all of that.Game feels nice,and usually the release version is a bit better than the demo.
I'll probably cave and get this one around release.

I switched to auto-sprint tonight and saw an immediate improvement in my running game. I've always had a bad happen of hitting sprint once my RB touched the ball and now I don't have to worry about that anymore. The more I play, the more I enjoy the game. I think it will play even better once we can select the game speed in the retail version and slow it down a little bit.

During E3 I mentioned that the build that made up the demo for NCAA Football 11 ran nearly two months behind the essentially final build that was on the show floor. EA Sports has now released detailed information on what changed from the demo to the final version of the game. Below are just a few of the items addressed, make sure to continue on for the entirety of the extensive list and leave your thoughts in the comments!.

    * Front four defensive linemen will generate a better pass rush. There are many contributing factors to this that have been tweaked. CPU defensive linemen will rush the pass more aggressively and will not get thrown to the ground as often when “losing” to the blocker. Defensive ends will also do a better job of getting off their blocks at more appropriate angles to help contain a scrambling quarterback. Additionally, you can always tune the pass rush to your liking using the AI sliders if you still feel it is lacking (or overpowered) in the final product.

    * Pass defense has been greatly improved, both in man and zone coverage assignments. They will do a better job defending crosses, slants, and the flats in man coverage. Also, deep zone assignments have been improved to defend against the deep pass. Like the pass rush, you can further tune this to your liking using AI sliders.

    * Improved lead blocking by pulling linemen and fullbacks on tosses and sweeps.

    * Fixed some issues that caused receivers to drop catches they should have made. Again, this is also something that can be tuned further using AI Sliders.

    * Quarterbacks will no longer stutter when scrambling and crossing the line of scrimmage.

    * On Xbox 360, the Reese’s Perfect Play of the Game will not always be the final play. As some of you have already speculated, we temporarily save off highlights to the hard drive during the game so you can view them later, however this is not something we are able to do in the demo.

    * The CPU team will now decline penalties.

    * A major issue was fixed where the sound would cut out and eventually cause the game to freeze.

    * Fixed an issue where place kickers were getting subbed out for (usually) quarterbacks on kicks.

    * Fixed issue where the commentary would occasionally sound garbled on Xbox 360.

    * Dual Stick Ballcarrier Control has been improved, making R-Stick moves look and feel more responsive. Also made some visual improvements with turning and leaning animations.

    * Fixed several situations where the wrong team was celebrating after a big play.

    * Playcall will not suggest going for a 2 point conversion when it shouldn’t.

    * In general, we made defenders a little better at getting off blocks. This helps in defending against outside runs and quarterback scrambles as mentioned before.

    * Fixed several camera issues on kickoffs, including the one where the camera would not follow the ball on the ground.

    * Fixed a broken play where the quarterback would get stuck in his handoff animation and just run backwards away from the line of scrimmage.

    * Fixed FB Fake HB Toss play so the quarterback will not toss the ball behind the running back.

    * Improved head tracking for ball carriers, receivers and defenders.

    * Fixed some issues with auto replay cameras where it was too low to the ground and was not focusing on the correct targets.

    * More general tuning was done on option plays to make them run smoother.

    * Fixed an issue with playcall where it was not remembering the last formation you called.

    * Fixed an issue where receivers couldn’t make a tackle quickly after an interception.

    * Removed an exploit that would allow for “Rocket Catches”.

    * Fixed an issue where the CPU Ballcarrier would continue to cover the ball during long runs, even if no defenders were near.

    * Defenders will now be able to press receivers when they are in preplay motion.

    * Fixed an issue where defenders would turn the wrong way on curl routes.

    * Fixed an issue where defenders in man coverage would make a bad direction change after pressing the receiver.

    * Tuned some out-routes out of the backfield that were too effective against man coverage.

    * Fixed an issue where linebackers would stutter in pre-play and would get stuck.

    * Fixed some issues with players bumping into each other during preplay adjustments.

    * Fixed some issues where defenders would get caught offsides a lot against the no huddle.

    * Fixed the issue causing a delayed whistle in post play.

    * Fixed an exploit that disables bump and run after a play is flipped, causing coverage to go back to normal.

    * Fixed an exploit that allowed you to consistently recover onside kicks.

    * Adjusted CPU AI for kick returns so that they will not attempt to catch kickoffs that are headed out of bounds.

    * Improved CPU clock management so they will call a timeouts properly to set up a late field goal.

    * Fixed an issue where the Read Option would not be executed properly from the hash marks.

    * Numerous Commentary Fixes and Additions

    * Various other tweaks and tuning to improve general gameplay.

Release Day Patch Details:

  • Fixed an exploit where the QB could walk through the defense when the ball is snapped, with a guaranteed a gain of over 50 yards.
  • Tuned QB fumbling on scrambles, resolving an issue where the QB would fumble every time if hit past the line of scrimmage.
  • Improved deep zone coverage assignments, making it significantly more difficult to be beaten by the deep ball. In particular, deep zones have been improved against Streak routes.
  • Tuned QB throwing out of a sack. Previously, it was too easy for a QB to throw the ball while being tackled; this has been toned down to be more accurate.
  • Resolved an error with pursuit angles, which resulted in defenders over pursuing the ball carrier every play. The angle was fixed to be slightly more aggressive, creating a more accurate pursuit.
  • Tuned the read and react assignment for linebackers, especially outside linebackers, before the handoff. This will make it more difficult to run the ball outside the Tackles.
  • Fixed an issue with the CPU ball carrier being stuck in a forward lean animation. Also lowered the frequency of CPU ball carriers leaning.
  • Resolved an issue where AI players in man coverage assignment would swerve when covering particular vertical routes, causing them to be beat repeatedly.
  • Ball carriers will no longer go into a tightrope assignment when running along the sideline. This was causing the player’s speed to decrease to 70%.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing tackles to not matchup in online games, potentially causing a crash in online games.
  • Footsliding will no longer occur when the ball carrier has the ball in their left hand.
  • Tuned CPU screen passes so they will get rid of the ball faster, resulting in less sacks.
  • Resolved a crash that occurred if connection is lost before entering a game mode.

Fun times. 

I do not recall if they did this in the demo but they now show the offensive and defensive routes until the play has snapped (playing on AA so it is not something limited to easier levels).  I like it as it is something I do every play.  It does not show the buttons and to show it spread out with buttons you have to hit (RT and up on the R-Stick). This is especially good on defense since I play linebacker and in man to man the person you cover changes often when the offense runs motion.

There is only one camera, so if you liked the demo, you will be fine.

That's apparently a bug that was discovered during certain play-action plays.

On a positive note, the running game in NCAA 11 is simply phenomenal. I have to force myself to occasionally pass because I enjoy the running game so much.

Okay online dynasty.  We have used the MAC and Sun Belt.  How about this year we go Big East (so Jason can use Rutgers or Syracuse.

WV  OVR 89
Cinn  OVR 85
UCONN OVR 79
Lou  OVR 78
Pit OVR 89

I was thinking to keep it even and since use like Rutgers, I would use Cincinnati and then anyone else wanting in could pick whomever they want.  The advantage of staying in conference is that you are guaranteed a few NON CPU games in the dynasty.

invites have been sent.  I left two available slots in case anyone else wants to join in.

*  I did tweak Cincys schedule.  I replaced Oklahoma @ Cincy with Ohio St.  I hate playing my team and I did bump it up from the #15 team to the #2 team.  I also replaced the generic FCS team to Akron (a local matchup).

If WV or Rutgers have an FCS game on the schedule, I will change them to a local, lower tier team.

Koebner, glad you joined up - I was hoping you would.

I came on to see when we were going to get started and I guess the answer is now.

Are we going to stick with the "Community Roster" file? Do we need to download it or can we just it get from you once we accept the invite? I have the original roster file but haven't checked to see if they updated since last week. I've been using Fairdale King's roster since.

BTW, I hope they fix play-action soon. Not only is that annoying glitch driving me crazy, but plays take too long to develop and make play-action almost useless right now. Weren't people complaining about a lack of pass rush in this game? If so, I don't know what they're playing because there's pressure on my QB almost every time I drop back to pass.

Yea it uses whichever roster file I am running (community rosters) or you can auto-name with generic names.

The Web based online dynasty feature seems to be a touch broken right now or I would have posted a link.

Just finished my first year of the OU Dynasty.   Went undefeated (simming games once they were out of reach) and only had three close games during the regular season, all on the road.  Beat Nebraska in the Big 12 title game in a high scoring affair that we only won by a late FG.  3 teams went undefeated (Bama, OU and Boise St) thanks to the crappy BCS system in the game, just like in real life Boise does not get to play for a national title.  I take on the Alabama team of doom (they have like 15 to 20, 90+ rated players) and just kicked the crud out of them (34-17).  The post game ceremony was a bit short but sweet.  My QB Landry Jones came in 2nd in the Heisman to the Tech QB. Murray rushed for over 1500 yards and Broyles had a banner year at WR.

Recruiting, once you get the hang of it is simply a blast, I find myself enjoying it for the first time in my history of playing every NCAA game ever made.  OU finished the recruiting year with 6 5* players. 

Keys to successful recruiting.  Stick with 15 or so players that you want in the recruiting base.  Putting in the time on the phone calls and of course promising them everything but Fresh All American and playing time (since you want to keep them around).  As you get midway in you will see players that are not going to play for you so you head back to the recruiting pool and find a few new ones to add that are within 200 points of the top team. 

Offseason went well as I was able to convince a ton of players to stay (Broyles and Jones wanted to go pro and fortunately I was able to keep them). Only lost a few scrubs.  Going into season 2, 4 of my five O-lineman are All-Americans.  We are only ranked #3 since we did lose mucho talent on defense to graduation.

Onto season two and I think I will start another dynasty with a 3 star team for the challenge of building them up.

Has anyone seen people discussing offline dynasty errors? I can't get into my OU dynasty as it says it is corrupted or something of that nature?  I think I went to the dashboard before exiting my dynasty, which might have caused the problem.

Sucks to lose that one as I wanted to run with it for a couple years.  Just deleted it and started a new dynasty with 3* Purdue. Should give me a challenge.

• Slightly increased progression for low and mid tier teams.
