Currently only tearing it up with:

NHL 07 (Medium)

Atlanta Thrashers Season.  11-9-1.  Started the season 5-8-1 and have recently found my groove.  Just moved into 7th in the east.  I lead the league in scoring, but also in GAA.  I have had to play a more positionally sound defensive game to protect my rookie goaltender who is giving up 3.9 goals per game.  Have won the last four at home and the fans are loving it, but we start a road trip in Montreal next so will have to see if can keep it going.

Cool Thread.

NHL 07 (Pro)

New Jersey Devils: 2-1

Madden 07 (Pro)

NY Giants: 1-0 (I plan to kickstart my season after a slow start)

NCAA Footbal 07 - Akron Zips (All-American)

3-2.  Just beat Kent St. 31-0 last night to take possession of the MAC East lead!  I dove at their starting QB (who's pretty good) for a sack on the second play of the game, and broke his ankle.  Doh!  Too bad that didn't happen in real life (the score, not the breaking of the QB's ankle)...

I also plan on starting up FIFA 07 (Crew/Fulham) and NBA 2K7 (Cavs) dynasties in the very near future...

Made one change. Going to use Celtic FC instead of Man City. I will run this along side the FC Dallas Manager Mode.

Kevin before you jump into a MLS manager mode I would highly suggest bumping up your teams stamina for each player. Apparently most of the MLS teams are set with very weak stamina ratings. My Midfilders were all pooped out after the first match. Never played through a SPL before so I thought this would be a good change of pace.

Overall, how are you liking FIFA this year?

It is growing on me but most of the time it is a love/hate relationship. For me it is alot like the old Madden/2K days. Both games (Fifa/WE) have things I enjoy and if you could combine the two games you would have something special. Fifa finally got around to getting the framerate solid on the Xbox version which was a major gripe of mine for years. For me Fifa does not have that, "I have to play one more match" feeling that I get with WE. The gameplay is slowing catching up but the Manager Mode and Licenses are what sucks me in. I absolutely can't stand the Master League and they really need to borrow from Fifa in that regards.

Guess when it all comes down to it I am willing to sacrifice some of the smoother gameplay in WE to everything Fifa offers in it's package. Of course my mind on games change quite often. Wink

Thanks for the advice, Brent...  I'll check into that.  Although, with my Crew, I don't know if I have any players that are good enough to play two games in a row!  LOL

Update...  Akron is now 4-3.  I lost to Cincy 27-10 after committing 5 TO's on the road, but bounced back against Miami to remain undefeated in conference 42-35.  It wasn't that close; I was comfortably up 42-21 in the 4th, and my back-ups allowed a couple of late scores.  Off to Toledo in my pursuit of the MAC Championship!

MLB '06: The Show (Hall of Fame, PSP)

Career mode, starting pitcher in the Mets organization.  Started in AAA, then got sent down to AA the day after winning a game in the AAA championship series (bastards!), then back to AAA, then back down to AA.  Some day I'll make the bigs.

NHL 07 (All-Star, 360)

New York Rangers: 1-0

ESPN NFL 2K5 (Bill Harris's sliders, Xbox)

New York Jets: 3-0, second year of franchise.

I was running a NCAA dynasty with Indiana U. (All-American, 360), got a bowl bid, but I think I'm done with EA football for the year.  I still see things in 2K5 that I've never seen before, and the overall visual package is still far superior to any of the EA offerings.  Plus, I can never really find the right difficulty with EA football.

Started a NBA 2K7 dynasty, but ended up getting rid of the game.  Basketball games just take too long to play for me, both in-game and season length.

May you find some success in that bowl made of glass. ;)  I figure you and I will be the only ones to get that.

I figured out what the problem is being new to Fifa Manager mode and all.  MLS teams are treated like the Div 1-2 English teams in the Staff Upgrade section. Your best bet is to upgrade the trainer (most MLS teams I looked at are at a 2 out of 10) and bump that one up as much as fiscally possible.

Cletic is far too good in the game, compared to the other Scottish teams (which is just like what is happening in the real SPL) so I am going to stick with Man City. With so many dynasties I am about to start I am just going to stick with one manager mode.

Agreed, especially if you want accurate scores. I struggle on 8 minute quarters just to get 80 point games based on the exhibitions I have played. I will be doing alot of simming, mostly home games.  College Hoops is easier and I have always stuck with 15 minute halves. Not uncommon to have real games in the 60-70 point range so I am never that bothered by lower scores. Plus with the 3 point line so close I can rack up points quick if needed.

Now pitching for the New York Mets, number thirty-four, Seth Berkowitz!  I finally made the bigs!  Pitched two scoreless innings in relief against the Giants, and am now making my first start against the Marlins.  Career mode is strange, in that you're not in charge of team decisions and player movement.  The Mets made some strange moves in the offseason, signing Pedro Martinez to a new 7-year (!) contract, letting David Wright go, signing Griffey to play center and moving Beltran over to right, etc.  Glavine retired.  And Sal Fassano is catching me today.  Bizarre.  Still really fun though.

MLB '06: The Show (Hall of Fame, PSP)

2008 Mets, rookie season for pitcher Seth Berkowitz.  0-0 record with a 4.15 ERA.  No-decision in my first start, and may be heading towards one in my second as well.

NHL 07 (Superstar, 360)

New York Rangers: 5-3

NCAA '07 (Heisman. 360)

Army Black Knights: 2-0

I was actually trying to sell NCAA '07 last week, 'cause I got bored of playing on All-American and Heisman just seemed totally unfair to me (and I refuse to tweak sliders these days), but then I was at a restaurant where the Army/Air Force game was on, and it inspired me to give it another go with Army.  They've got my favorite color scheme with the black and gold, they're terrible (so constantly losing would be 'realistic'), and since I didn't go to a division 1 school, they've got a less regionally specific appeal... though I did grow up fairly close to West Point.  Anyway I had two GREAT games with them on Heisman... I found that if I weathered the early storm, I could usually fight my way back into the game.  And there is something about NCAA 360... I can't put my finger on why I think it looks so much better than Madden.  It may be the lighting, maybe how they don't blur out the croud like they do in Madden... but it's a gorgeous game.

Well, I finished my Zips' regular season.  I'm 7-5, 6-2 in conference.  I lost a tie-breaker in the MAC East to Ohio, so I'm out of the championship game.  I was 6-0, and controlled my own fate, but laid a serious egg against both Ohio and West. Michigan.

I did end up in the New Orleans bowl, though, and I'll be facing off against 6-6 UTEP.  I achieved two of my three goals by beating Cant State and getting a bowl bid.  I also landed a 4* OT, a 3* OG, and a 3* SS during in-season recruiting, but lost out on a 4* CB (which I desparately needed!).  Looking forward to the bowl game and my favorite part - off-season recruiting!  Hopefully, I'll get to that tomorrow...

NCAA '07 (Heisman, 360)

Finished my first season with the Army Black Knights. Went 10-3, earned a spot in the Emerald Bowl (where I lost a heartbreaker to Florida International), and had a fullback win the Heisman. Who knew?

Season results:

@ Arkansas State, W 38-33
vs. Kent State, W 28-25
@ Texas A&M, W 30-7
@ Baylor, W 38-13
vs. Rice, W 38-23
vs. 1AA East, W 45-3
@ Connecticut, W 56-35
vs. TCU, W 34-31 OT
@ Tulane, L 10-31 (that dome intimidated me)
vs. Air Force, W 28-0 (take that, flyboys!)
@ Notre Dame, L 21-45
@ Navy, W 27-20 OT (this was an awesome game)
vs. FIU (Emerald Bowl), L 28-31

Bumped Army's prestige from an 'F' up to a 'D'. Fullback Erik Woods won the Heisman... the beneficiary of countless dump-offs. He had 154 receptions for 1733 yards and 17 TD's on the season. Year two should be interesting... I've got a 'B+' for strength of schedule.

Currently 5-2 with Florida State.  I scheduled all non conference games vs. top ranked opponents on the road.  Only losses so far was a comeback victory to NC State and a blowout vs ND.

I can't put this game down.  I like playing as Fla State, but there are so many teams that I would like to try.  I can see myself playing this game until the next one is out.

Going to do the Computer Service thing full time. Just time to be my own boss. Plus it makes it alot cheaper to do everything on-site.

Spyware - Virus Repair
Computer Repair (though I try to limit this due to possible warranty issues with other vendors parts)
Software training
Web Design

Going to go heavy on advertising in the paper and other resources.

There is a reason behind the URL for future plans. Still it is short and easy to remember.

Both

Business for the Website Design.
Mainly home users for the Virus & Spyware. Though I have worked on some computers where the companies are small and do not have an IT guy.

I have been doing this part time for quite awhile and the biggest customer base is the older people (50+) who do not want to unplug their computer to send it off to be worked on.

Most frustrating customers I ever had are my own parents (no charge of course). They are a step below, in computer IQ, to the episode where Homer could not find the "any" key.

The ones I always enjoy are where parents have me clean up their kids computer. Just seeing the dropped jaw as they see all the content I remove. It's even better when the parents have their kid in with them.

The only computer I work on (besides the ones I own) is my parent's computer and I make sure they don't download or install anything without my knowledge. You should put the free version of LogMeIn on their machine for easy remote access.

My wife is no longer allowed to tell people that I work in the IT field. If asked, I tell her to say that I'm a bounty hunter LOL (or a hitman).

I'm sure you'll find lots of interesting items on the computers you clean. With the advent of digital cameras, everyone believes they're a photographer for Playboy magazine. I can't even begin to tell you how many "interesting" pictures I've come across in the past years.

I still get the occassional home computer that belongs to the kids of some of my bigger clients. It's a good thing that I'm an honest guy.

Want some business?  My father-in-law called me tonight and I asked if I'd do a website for the Heating and Air company he works for.  Since he's based in Akron, I'd be working with the owner's son via phone and e-mail, which you could do just as well.

I'm really not that interested.  If you are, let me know ASAP, and I'll put you in touch with the guy.

Career mode in MLB is still going strong for me.  Finished up the 2008 season with a 2.66 ERA, going 11-2 as a reliever (I came in as long or middle relief in a lot of games and then made comebacks) for the Mets.  Now it's 2009 and I'm slotted in as third in the rotation... just a 21-year-old fireballer with a bright future in front of me.  We did get bounced from the divisional series by the Pirates in '08, though.  The Pirates!

I'm using this season to get adjusted to the driving controls and learning the tracks. Next season will be tougher.

I just finished a franchise season in NHL 07, winning the cup with the Devils.  10 min periods, played every game, so I got in a good 50+ hours or so.  Can't beat that!

Very cool. I put my NHL season on hold when my gaming drought started this month, but I plan on finishing it after I win the Nextel Cup.

I had a very productive gaming night last night:

The Yanks win a home game against Detriot 5-1 and an away game against the Royals 11-0 last night in my MLB 06: The Show season. For the record, I'm once again hooked on this excellent game and can't wait for MLB 07.

The Giants win their week 4 game against the Redskins in Madden 07. Tiki rushed for over 200 yards against a lackluster Redskin defense.

I really need to start my dynasties.  I think I am just going to start a NCAA07 & CH2K7 dynasties with OU. I tried a few games of NCAA07 with Miss St and they were just plain bad.

The lone dynasty until MLB2K7

CH2K7 - Oklahoma (All-Conferfence)

(W1 - L0)  Blew out Norfolk State (58-34), next up Liberty.

I ran a half play/half sim season with NCAA07 and ended up in the BCS Championship game against Ohio St. I know it is a minor thing but they had the championship game in the afternoon, in an open stadium.  After that I kind of lost any desire to play football, until the 08 games come out.

Of course I traded in the game for a pre-ordered NCAA/Madden08 & APF 2K8. Embarrassed

HOPEFULLY they get all the stadiums in the game along with all the nice little touches that have been in the Xbox/PS2 versions of NCAA for years.

Shawn Chacon struggles as the Yanks lose their last game of the season 4-2 to Oakland and finish their 14-game season at 12-2. They now begin a 5-game series against the Tigers in the first round of the playoffs.

I'm hoping to finish my first NASCAR and MLB 06 seasons this week. Once that's done, I'll concentrate on my Madden, NFL and MLB 07 seasons.

I won my 10th race at Indy and wrapped up my Nextal Cup championship with a 2nd place finish in my 11th and final race of the season.

I really wish there was a way to go back and view the tracks/results for the season so I could give some more details.

Dynasty for MLB2K7 gets off to a predictable start losing to Houston and Roy Oswalt 4-2.  Zach Duke pitched well but was hurt by some fielding miscues. On the manager side I have already had my first team meeting after the loss since EVERY SINGLE PLAYER was negative. Even after the meeting half the team was upset.

Game two with Houston and both pitchers head into the 5th inning with no hitters. I give up two runs in the fifth on poor fielding.  Finally got a hit in the 7th but never.  Both teams had only 4 hits each. Team morale continues to sink, I might have to take them bowling soon (one of the meeting options).

What a game, only to be kicked in butt with a 2 run walkoff homer.  Down 6-4 in the top of the ninth I rallied to tie the game.  We outhit the Astros 15 to 12 so there was something positive coming out of this game.  On to Cincy we go.

Finally a W for the Pirates as I pulled out the old 1978 road uniforms to give the team a mental boost. Still have to work on that Team Pulse as only Jason Bay is on the positive side.
